Prerequisite: Beginning Writing class or 2 day seminar class. Seminar class will be held on September 13 and 15 from 1:30-3:00.  Please bring a 3-ring binder and 10 divider tabs to the seminar. Cost for seminar class will be $25. Be sure to indicate on the Registration Form if you need to take this seminar.

This class will be using an American history based writing curriculum based on the Institutes for Excellence in Writing. Building on what they have learned in the Beginning Writing class, students will study book critiques, poetry, and writing from prompts. During the second semester, we will be learning how to research, take notes, and organize a research paper based on a thesis statement. It is strongly suggested that Intermediate Writing students take the Beginning Writing course first, rather than the seminar, but it is not required. Those who have taken Beginning Writing should bring their resource notebook to the first day of class. **A free download of the Student Resource Notebook (95 pages) is included with the purchase of the Student Book, or you may purchase a copy of the Student Resource Notebook from the HSB Bookstore when you purchase the Student Book. This class could also be used to fulfill the writing portion of a grammar class you are doing at home or to compliment the GRACE Grammar class.

Advanced Writing - (Grades 10-12) Elective Credit

During the second semester, each student will learn to make connections between Biblical principles and every day life by writing a devotional. To help with word choice and spelling, a dictionary and thesaurus should be available at home. This class is important to complete the high school writing portion of the Institute for Excellence in Writing curriculum. A copy fee of $5.00 is included in the cost of the class.

***This class will be offered every other year with the next class being offered in 2014.
