This practical course seeks to apply principles of classical rhetoric as a means for improving the student’s analytical and critical thinking skills as well as helping him or her to recognize appropriate uses or abuses of persuasive argumentation.  The coursework for this class will include a fundamental introduction to informal logic, rhetoric, and writing.  This will involve reading various essays, Scripture passages, song lyrics, and ultimately Homer’s Iliad as topics for discussion.  The class is an excellent opportunity for students preparing for college or who are interested in developing  skills fostered by the liberal arts.  Used copies of these books are found on-line at Amazon.com, Abebooks.com, Barnesandnoble.com, or Exodusbooks.com.
