We were created in the image of God. As such, we have the attributes of God—one of those attributes being the desire to create. We all create in our own way, whether it be cooking, gardening, working on cars — the list is endless. One of the ways some of us use to fulfill this desire to create is to draw. Taking the three-dimensional world that our eyes see and relaying that onto a piece of two dimensional paper is a special skill that can be developed. That is the purpose of this class.
We will delve into many aspects of pencil drawing such as materials use, reducing complex objects into simpler forms, perspective, composition and balance, line weight, and shading/blending. A well thought-out, well-done pencil drawing can be awe inspiring. If time and progression of skills permits, we will also explore the more difficult mediums of charcoal and painted graphite. Make sure you have your materials because we will be diving right in! There is a $10 material fee included in the cost of this course.
