Description: Our Physical Science course is taught using the newest, 3rd Edition Physical Science textbook from Apologia. This course is designed to prepare your advanced 8th or 9th grade student for the transition into high school Biology. We have chosen this book because it is written to assist your student as they transition from junior high science to high school work. This science course is composed of three main parts: chemistry, physics, and earth science. Your student will learn about atomic structure, the periodic table, chemical bonds, chemical reactions, motion, forces, energy, waves, sound, light, electricity, magnetism, Earth’s structure, weathering, and atmosphere. This course should count as a high school science course on his or her transcript.

Prerequisite: To be successful in this course, students should have a foundational knowledge of pre-algebra math skills, as well as a basic understanding of the scientific method and lab skills. Students must have the maturity for self-directed learning at home throughout the week. Students are expected to come to class prepared for the lab experiment.
