Financial Foundations for Life: Personal Finance, Consumer Math and Economics  (Grades 11–12)

Friday 8:30–9:55

Teacher: Mindy Weiss

Description: Recently designated as a required course in the state of Michigan, this class prepares high school students to make wise, God-honoring financial decisions for life after graduation. Through the lens of biblical stewardship, students will develop practical money-management skills while applying real-world math to everyday financial situations. Topics include budgeting, saving, banking, credit and debt, taxes, housing, insurance, and career planning. Students will grow in financial literacy and confidence as they learn to view money as a tool entrusted to them by God for wise and purposeful use. In addition, weekly discussions will introduce key economic concepts—such as supply and demand, scarcity and choice, markets, and labor —helping students understand how personal decisions connect to the broader economy.
