Principles of Design (Grades 9–12) NEW CLASS

Description: Students will use the third program in the Affinity Suite, Affinity Designer, to explore composition and design principles. The focus of this class will be centered around commercial graphic design from a vector based approach. Subjects covered will include Balance, Strategic use of Color, Repetition, Contrast and Perspective to name a few. Students will need a laptop and will be required to download a free copy of the Affinity Suite available online. This class can be taken with Graphic Design or independently.

Supplies:

  • Access to a personal laptop or iPad is required (preferably a laptop — the larger the screen size, the better)
  • A mouse, though not required, makes using hotkeys and mouse/hotkey combinations much easier.
  • Affinity v2 (make sure you get the bundled programs) is required to be downloaded onto your computer before the beginning of class. This is a free download when signing up for the class. Contact the office for instructions on downloading and activating the programs.
