Description: Acrylic paint is a relatively new medium when compared to the more traditional mediums of oil, watercolor and even gauche. It has gained popularity as more artists have learned to exploit what was thought of as drawbacks of acrylic paint. One of the main complaints of this medium is how
fast it dries. Unlike oil paint, which dries very slowly and gives the artist plenty of time to blend colors, acrylic paint does not allow for this blending opportunity. In this class, many options will be explored too use this assumed weakness of acrylic paint to the artist’s advantage. Subjects covered will include layering, color mixing, acrylic mediums, proper use of tools, and many more. Also included will be the
more traditional subjects of color theory, atmospheric perspective and composition. Students will be required to purchase art materials from the materials list that will be provided. ***This class is on a two-year rotation with Art of Watercolor.

Class Cost: $540

Supplies: This list is very specific, and the most reliable method to get them is from Jerry’s Artarama. There is a reason for getting these colors of paint and this brand which will be taught in class. Other brands of professional grade paint are as good, if not, arguably better, but the pigments used in the listed colors are all known to be archival, which means they will not fade.
